Youth bicycle gang slice man with knife in Swindon town centre attack

A man was sliced with a knife in an attack in Swindon town centre yesterday evening.

Police were called to reports a man, in his 20s, has been seriously injured with a bladed weapon – rumoured to have been a machete – at around 7.30pm.

The attack happened outside the Card Factory in The Parade, an area of the town which was cordoned off as a crime scene until after midnight, as first reported by Wiltshire 999s.

Wiltshire Police say he was assaulted by a group of unknown offenders riding bicycles.

The victim suffered a serious arm injury and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Detectives investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a group of youths on bicycles, all wearing dark clothing and face coverings, in this area of the town at the time of the assault.

Last week, on 11 February, a man in his 20s was stabbed in the leg by approximately five youths riding bicycles in Verwood Close, Park North.
