Balaclava-clad male robs pensioner of wedding ring in Swindon park

A pensioner was robbed of her wedding ring whilst walking through a Swindon park.

The balaclava-clad male threatened the 70-year-old woman in Sampson Park, Toothill, before taking her handbag and multiple rings from her finger on Friday (12 May).

The suspect, who was also wearing gloves, ran off in the direction of Frestbrook Way following the incident at 12.15pm – which left the victim “extremely distressed”.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Our enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and we would be keen to speak to anyone who was in the park at the time of the incident, and anyone who may have further information which could assist our enquiries.

“Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54230049794. Alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
