A journalist saved the life of a suicidal woman in south Wiltshire on New Year’s Eve.
Police and paramedics were called to the Mere, where a woman claimed she had begun efforts to end her life, following a 999 call from Wiltshire 999s founder Daniel Jae Webb last night.
The woman had contacted Daniel on his personal social media – her messages sparked serious concern.
In a statement, he said: “At approximately 8pm on New Year’s Eve I received a message via social media from a woman who stated she was going to take her life.
“I immediately contacted Wiltshire Police. I liaised with them, and on their advice I continued to engage with the woman over a two hour period.
“Eventually, – after she stated that she had began efforts to end her life – I was able to get a location. The ambulance service were sent to the scene, but were unable to locate her.
“A short time later, following more communication with the woman, I was able to get her new location and paramedics quickly diverted to the scene.
“I have since received thanks from the patient for ‘saving her life’.
“I wish her all the best for 2020, and sincerely hope that she is able to get the help and support she needs.”
