A woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after falling off a lorry trailer.

The casualty, aged in her 70s, was not physically trapped under the vehicle but rather she was unable to move due to injuries to her head and neck.

Ambulance staff and fire crews, from Devizes and Trowbridge, managed to extricate her from underneath the trailer and she was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed officers were sent to the scene following a call from South Western Ambulance Service about the incident.

“The woman was taken to hospital by road ambulance for an injury to her neck which was not thought to be life changing”, they said.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival crews found one female casualty underneath a trailor.

“She was not physically trapped under the trailor, she fell from the trailor and ended up underneath it.

“The crews assisted with extrication of the casualty and the stop message came in at 12:22pm.”
