A woman has suffered minor injuries after being approached by two men at around 4am in Chippenham on Saturday, Wiltshire police detectives say.

The incident happened approximately 4am and 4.30am on 14 October as the 27-year-old woman walked between Downing Street and Canterbury Street.

She was approached by two men – one of the men tried to push her before fleeing the scene. She sustained minor injuries to her stomach.

The first man is described as white, slim, approximately 5 foot 11 inches tall, with stubble on his face. He was aged between 30-40 and was wearing a black jacket and dark trousers.

The second man was believed to be slightly younger, approximately 5 foot 11 inches tall, of skinny build and was wearing dark jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Cat Kirkham said: “Fortunately, the victim sustained no serious physical injuries as a result of this incident.

“Although this incident happened in the early hours of the morning, it took place in a residential area. We have carried out house to house enquiries but I’d appeal to anyone who has not yet spoken to police who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity to contact police on 101.”
