Medics worked with firefighters to release the pedestrian from underneath the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) following the collision.

Police closed the road in both directions whilst 999 responders worked at the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that the pedestrian, understood to be a woman, suffered no life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

“Crews from Royal Wootton Bassett, Westlea, Swindon and Stratton attended a road traffic collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian”, a spokesperson said.

Adding: “Crews used lifting and stabilisation equipment to free the pedestrian from underneath the front of the heavy goods vehicle.”

Wiltshire Police say the road has since reopened.
