Woman dies in Wiltshire countryside after ’horse spooked by motorbike’

A woman has died in the countryside after her ‘horse was spooked by a motorbike’.

Great Western Air Ambulance was among the emergency services called to Bollands Hill, near Seend, Melksham, at around 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon (9 July).

Police believe the horse was spooked by a motorbike travelling around a blind bend, resulting in the rider being thrown from her horse.

The rider, a woman aged in her 50s from the local area, sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s family have been informed, Wiltshire Police confirmed.

The biker also fell from their motorcycle following during the incident and suffered minor injuries. They were treated by paramedics.

The horse also suffered minor injuries and was returned safely to its field.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
