Woman, 69, suffers serious injuries after being hit by cyclist with no lights on the pavement

A woman’s been seriously hurt after being struck down by a teenage cyclist in Swindon.

The 69-year-old woman was alighting the 66 Stagecoach bus from Oxford at the stop on Drakes Way, opposite Greenbridge Retail Park, when she was hit at around 6pm.

The 17-year-old cyclist, who appeared to be riding a bike on the pavement and without any lights, remained at the scene until emergency services arrived.

The woman was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries, where she remains.

Two lanes on Drakes Way, in the direction of Queens Drive, were sealed off by police officers as a crime scene while they investigated the incident until around 10.30pm.

No arrests have been confirmed at this stage.

Specialist officers from Tri-Force Roads Policing Unit are appealing to any witness who saw the collision to contact them by calling 101 immediately.
