A Wiltshire Search and Rescue training exercise got underway in Swindon this morning.

Trainee team leaders are being given the chance to catch up on training missed due to the coronavirus pandemic as the COVID-19 alert level drops from four to three.

The life-saving charity told Wiltshire 999s that a COVID-19 policy is in place to help manage the event safely and that social distancing can be practised due to limited participant numbers.

The exercise is taking place in the area of Seven Fields Nature Reserve, meaning some locals in the Penhill and Greenmeadow areas may spot teams of volunteers who are wearing their usual red search and rescue branded uniforms

Volunteers started the exercise at around 9am and are expected to finish by late afternoon.
