A crime scene was put in place when police were called to the discovery of a bone behind a pub.
Wiltshire Police cordoned off an area of woodland after a member of the public called the force reporting to have found a suspected human bone earlier this month (4 August).
Officers attended the scene near Plaum’s Pit, behind The Manor public house in Cheney Manor Road, and guarded the area before forensics could attend.
At the time of the incident, the police confirmed they were investigating the discovery of an item found by a member of the public but refused to say what the item was.
They told Wiltshire 999s that the item was “seized by police to be sent off for analysis”.
In an update this week, Wiltshire Police confirmed the bone was that of an animal, not a human and the investigation was closed.
