Wiltshire man speaks out about homophobic attack on boyfriend

A young man has been assaulted during an alleged homophobic attack in Bristol.

Josh Lalani from Chippenham, posted a photograph of his boyfriend Ben Jennings, who suffered face and back injuries from two men which led to him being treated in hospital.

The incident happened at around 4am on Sunday 7 May on Park Street.

Talking to Wiltshire 999s, Josh said: “My boyfriend was with his friends and walking towards me at a takeaway on Park Street. He was shouting my name, but I didn’t hear him.

“Two guys, who were intoxicated, asked if he was gay. Ben decided to ignore them and continued to walk towards me. They then grabbed him.

“They punched him various times and took him to the floor. They then got up and ran for his life towards me. I called an ambulance and the police.

“He was taken to hospital and police are gathering evidence as we speak.”
