Wiltshire firefighters battle second combine harvester blaze in 24 hours

Firefighters in Wiltshire are battling their second combine harvester blaze within 24 hours.

Three fire engines are dealing with the incident in Bourton, near Bishops Cannings, Devizes, following calls reporting the flames at 3.30pm today (3 September).

Fire appliances from Westbury, Melksham, Devizes, Pewsey and Frome are in attendance.

Yesterday afternoon firefighters tackled a raging combine harvester fire in Netheravon which broke out in a crop field.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received the call at 15:29 today to reports of a combine harvester fire in Bishops Cannings.  Crews from Westbury, Melksham and Devizes are there along with the water carrier from Pewsey and an applicance from Devon & Somerset (Frome).

“Crews are currently tackling the fire using hos reel jets, main lines and foam.”
