Wiltshire road closed as air ambulance lands for serious crash

UPDATE: Woman critically injured in head-on crash on A3102 near Calne


A Wiltshire road is closed after an air ambulance landed for a serious crash.

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the A3102 Silver Street, near Whetham, at around 3pm this afternoon (Monday).

The busy route, between A342 Devizes Road and Calne, is shut as 999 crews responded to the incident involving three vehicles.

Great Western Air Ambulance landed nearby to attend the scene – suggesting that at least one person has sustained serious injuries.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) also has crews in attendance.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The A3102 has been closed between Sandy Lane and Calne following a serious collision, which happened shortly before 2.50pm this afternoon.

“Three vehicles were involved in the collision. Please avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with.”
