Air ambulance lands in Salisbury to treat seriously injured man

A man has been taken to hospital after a serious assault in Salisbury.

The incident happened in Estcourt Road around 5pm today.

The 36-year-old victim made his way to the nearby police station at Bourne Hill where he received medical treatment, before being transferred to hospital by ambulance.

His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed in The Greencroft near to the city centre scene.

Inspector Alan Webb of Wiltshire Police said: “We are dealing with a serious assault and are trying to locate the offender who left the area.

“I want to reassure the public in Salisbury that this was not a random attack. The victim and the offender are known to each other and we understand there was an altercation.”
