Van driver dead as two air ambulances land for A360 crash

A van driver has died in a two-vehicle crash on the A360 north of Salisbury.

Emergency services were called to the fatal collision between Camp Hill and Church Bottom at around 7.30pm yesterday (Thursday 25 May).

A significant number of 999 vehicles rushed to the scene, as did Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

The driver of a van involved, a man aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the same vehicle, a man aged in his 50s, is currently being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for around 12 hours whilst crash investigation work and vehicle recovery were carried out.

“The next of kin of both men have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

They added: “Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 54230054976.
