Undercover cops patrol clubs to find people ‘displaying predatory behaviour’

Police officers have been patrolling pubs and clubs to find people ‘displaying predatory behaviour’.

As part of Operation Vigilant, which aims to target potential sex offenders before they commit a crime, officers took to Wood Street in Old Town, Swindon, on Friday (4 November).

They engaged with door staff to ensure people were having a safe night, free of harassment and stalking-tyle behaviour.

Both uniformed and plain-clothed officers target pubs and clubs identifying individuals who may be ‘displaying predatory behaviours’.

DCI Gemma Vinton said: “It’s a sad fact, but a lot of people, particularly women and girls, are not feeling safe when out at night.

“I recognise people have the right to go out and enjoy their night without feeling like the police are watching them, but it is crucial we are there to identify people who may be about to commit sexual offences.”
