Two men charged with driving offences over Chippenham car meet

Two people have been charged with driving offences after police were called to reports of a car meet in Chippenham last year.

Officers attended the Bath Road car park on the evening of 17 June 2021, where they found a group of people meeting in vehicles.

An investigation into the incident has led Wiltshire Police to charge two young men with offences.

George Betts, 21, of St James, Dauntsey, is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court later this month where he will be formally charged with careless driving and driving without insurance.

Elliot Forster, 21, of Greenfield Road, Devizes, is due to appear at the same court on the same date where he will be charged with driving without insurance.

“We would encourage the public to report incidents of groups of cars meeting up, so the police can take action and fully investigate”, a force spokesperson said.
