Two air ambulances scrambled as pedestrian hit by car in Swindon

Two air ambulances have been scrambled to Swindon following a serious collision.

Emergency services were called to the crash in Fleming Way, close to the Magic Roundabout, at around 12.30pm this afternoon (Monday).

A pedestrian, thought to be a middle-aged man, was hit by a grey Audi in the middle of the road outside the Esso service station.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance attended the incident, with medics providing critical care to the injured man.

He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury. He’s understood to be in a stable condition.

The driver of the Audi remained at the scene following the impact and it’s been confirmed that no arrests were made.

A lengthy forensic collision investigation is due to take place this afternoon, with the road likely to remain closed until late evening.
