Two air ambulances land in Chippenham school field as man falls from bicycle

Two air ambulance helicopters landed in Chippenham for an injured cyclist this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Stainers Way at just after midday, after a man suffered serious head injuries during a fall from his bicycle.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance – in a temporary red air ambulance rather than its usual green and blue one – landed on the field of Hardenhuish School.

Two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance were also sent to the scene.

The casualty was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that they attended the scene to assist paramedics, however, it’s not believed the cyclist was involved in a collision.
