Two air ambulances descend on A338 following serious road traffic collision

A road north of Tidworth has been closed following a serious road traffic collision.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance both attended the two-vehicle crash on the A338 at around 6pm this evening.

Police closed the road between Burbage and Collingbourne Ducis after the crash. It’s not expected to reopen until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed fire crews from Ludgershall and Pewsey extricated three casualties and handed them over to the ambulance service, which conveyed them to hospital.

At least one casualty has been airlifted to the Regional Major Trauma Centre at Southampton Hospital by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Less than two weeks ago, two air ambulances landed at a crash on the same stretch.
