Tree falling on car forces closure of country lane – some motorists ignore closure

A tree has fallen on a car in a country lane in rural Wiltshire.

Emergency services are attending the incident in Manningford Bruce, near Pewsey, this evening (18 February).

The unnamed road through the village, between the A345 and Wilcot, is closed whilst firefighters and council operatives work at the scene.

No one’s believed to have been seriously injured in the crash.

Some motorists have been ignoring the road closure, despite hazard tape being across the road.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Manningford Bruce turning off of the A345 is now shut, you cannot access Manningford Bruce or Enter the A345 from the Wilcot end of Manningford.

“We have Hazard tape across the road. PLEASE DO NOT PASS THIS TAPE.”

It’s not clear how long the road will be closed for, but motorists are advised to keep an alternative route this evening.
