Man charged with making threats to kill after armed police swarm Dilton Marsh

A man has been charged in connection with an incident in Dilton Marsh over the weekend.

Armed police swarmed the village following reports of a man making threats at around 5.30pm on Sunday 19 June.

Graham Bates, 60, of The Avenue, Dilton Marsh, has been charged with making threats to kill, affray and common assault.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court this morning (21/06).

Local residents claimed they were told to ‘stay indoors for their own safety’ during the incident.

“We just opened our front door to have a look and were shouted at by police to get back inside and close all doors and windows”, one person said.

Park Road was closed for two hours, and there was no access for pedestrians or motorists.
