Witnesses initially thought that a male had been stabbed in Faringdon Road, but police have since confirmed that the youth sustained injuries during his arrest.

He was reportedly riding an electric scooter when he was Tasered by officers – suffering a number of bloody wounds that are believed to have required hospital treatment.

Both males have since been charged with affray, with the 16-year-old also charged with possessing a knife in a public place.

They were released on conditional bail to appear before Swindon Youth Court on 7 August.

It comes following a day of disorder on Sunday – with two people knifed during an altercation in Moredon Road at around 1.30pm, and following that a man was stabbed in his own home.
