Teenager suffers head injuries after falling from roof in Amesbury

A man fell from the roof of a cottage in Amesbury at the weekend.

At 1am on Saturday 6 May, police received a call from the occupants of a cottage in Amesbury town centre, reporting that a man had fallen from their roof.

Police and ambulance crews attended the scene and found a 19-year-old local man laying on the ground. He was intoxicated and had sustained head and hand injuries.

Friends of the injured man described him as a “free climber”.

“It is believed that while intoxicated he tried to climb up on to the house and then fell. The occupants reported hearing movement on their roof”, a police spokesperson said.

“The man was taken by ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital where he underwent surgery. He sustained a fractured eye socket, a broken wrist, a broken bone in his hand and required stitches to his chin. He has been subsequently released from hospital.

“An investigation is ongoing into damage caused to the property.”
