Teenager assaulted by males armed with metal poles in village near Swindon

A teenager was assaulted by males armed with metal poles in a robbery last night.

Police were called to the scene in the village of Purton, near Swindon, at shortly before 8pm following a report of a 17-years-old having been hurt in a robbery.

The victim was taken to hospital for injuries sustained in the attack on a footpath adjacent to the Lydiard Millicent Church Cemetery, off Church Street.

The suspects are alleged to have made off with the victim’s orange Voodoo bicycle.

“It is reported that the victim, who was on a pushbike, has been attacked by a group of males before the bike was stolen”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed.

“The suspects, who were also on bikes, are believed to have left the scene in the direction of Swindon on Church End.

“The victim was taken to hospital for his injuries which are not thought to be life changing.”

The force is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who may have been driving in the area and has dashcam footage of a group of males on pushbikes at around 8.00pm is asked to contact them on 101 quoting crime reference number 54210005413.
