Teenage girl and young woman died in Frome bypass crash, police say

A teenage girl and a young woman died in a crash on the Frome bypass, police say.

Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision involving a Volkswagen Polo and an Audi RS6 on the A361 at around 10.30pm on Tuesday 25 July.

Despite the best efforts of 999 responders, the 21-year-old female driver of the Volkswagen and her 17-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old man – from the Audi – sustained life-threatening injures and remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A collision investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Following the incident, a force spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, who have yet to speak with police.

“Anyone with any relevant footage including CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the time around the collision should also contact us.

“Officers are especially keen to speak with the driver of a white VW who was in the vicinity at the time of the collision, or anyone else who saw the two cars before 10.30pm.
