Two ambulance crews provided treatment at the scene and took the girl to Royal United Hospital in Bath for further care.

It’s believed the driver of the car remained at the scene and was not arrested in relation to the incident.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said the victim’s injuries are “are not thought to be life-changing”.

The road was partially blocked until approximately 8.15am, but traffic coped well past the scene.
