Teen arrested as man stabbed and threatened with gun in Devizes

A man has been stabbed and threatened with a gun in Devizes town centre.

Police are investigating the incident, which happened in the vicinity in the Long Street area in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday, 3 January).

A man, aged in his 30s, was treated in hospital for knife wounds to his arm. His wounds are not thought to be psychically life-changing or life-threatening.

A crime scene was in place at St John’s Church for most of the day whilst forensic work was carried out. The cordons were lifted at about 1pm.

A 15-year-old boy, from Devizes, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and robbery.

Police have since released the suspect on bail as enquires into events continue.
