Swindon town centre road closed as person threatens to jump from car park

A Swindon town centre road has been closed by police due to a mental health incident.

Emergency services were called to the Brunel West multi-storey car park in Farnsby Street at around 1.30pm today (Friday, 3 June).

Police have cordoned off the road, closing it to motorists and pedestrians.

Wiltshire 999s understands a person is in distress on the car park and threatening to jump from the building.

The road could remain closed for some hours.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are asking members of the public to avoid the area surrounding the Brunel West car park in the town centre, while we deal with concerns for the welfare of an individual.

”A number of roads immediately around the car park have been closed while the incident is dealt with.”
