Swindon road closed as firefighters remove roof of car involved in crash

A Swindon road is currently closed as firefighters work to free a trapped casualty from a car.

Emergency services are attending the scene in Oxford Road, near Winchester Close. It’s thought the two-vehicle road traffic collision happened at around 6pm.

Two fire crews, two ambulances, a paramedic officer and police are all at the scene.

UPDATE 6.45PM: Two small cars have been involved in a shunt. It’s thought a complaint of neck or back pain prompted the fire service to remove one of the car’s roofs as a precaution.

UPDATE 7PM: The road has reopened in both directions, but there are some delays in the area of the crash while recovery of the car involved is completed.
