Swindon road closed as 16 firefighters battle serious house fire

Firefighters at battling a serious blaze at a property in Swindon this evening.

Emergency services were called to the home in Penhill Drive at around 5pm today following reports of a fire which appears to have destroyed a large portion of the property.

South Western Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene, but no one’s thought to have been seriously injured.

In total, there are four fire engines at the incident – equating to around 16 firefighters.

Penhill Drive is closed in both directions as 999 crews work at the scene.
