Swindon road closed by police after man ‘in distress’ spotted on rooftop


Police have closed a road in central Swindon after a man was seen ‘in distress’ on a rooftop.

A large number of officers are at the scene in County Road, and it was closed to both motorists and pedestrians at around 7.45pm.

The road is shut between Transfer Bridges and Manchester Road for the developing incident.

A senior fire officer is also at the scene, but no fire crews are present.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with an incident at an address on County Road, Swindon involving an individual who we have concerns for.

“You may well see an increased police presence in the area at this time but please do not be alarmed by this.”
