Swindon restaurant is closed as man pronounced dead by medics

A popular Swindon restaurant has been closed following the death of a man inside the establishment earlier today, according the Wiltshire Police.

The emergency services were called to the Spotted Cow, on Marlborough Road, at around 10.30am this morning, Tuesday 16 May, after reports of a medical incident.

Paramedics treated one male casualty at the scene, but he could not be revived and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Wiltshire Police attended the scene with medics.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Police are currently treating his death as unexplained and our investigation in to this incident is on-going.

“A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

“The male’s family have been notified – please respect their wishes to be left alone at this difficult time.”

One bystander said she was greeted with a ‘heavy police presence and ambulances everywhere’ when arriving for lunch at around midday today.

Talking to Wiltshire 999s anonymously, she said: “I turned up for lunch and there were police officers everywhere, and a load of ambulances too. It must have been something serious.”

Another bystander who arrived after the incident happened said that he saw a woman outside the main doors crying loudly.
