Swindon motorcyclist killed in crash with lorry on A34 near Oxford

A Swindon man has died in a serious collision near Oxford this morning.

53-year-old Simon Gutteridge, known as Sid to his friends, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when it hit a white Volvo lorry on the A34 near Kidlington at around 2.45am.

He sadly died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the HGV was not injured and no arrests have been made.

Investigating officer, Sgt Ed Crofts, of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: “This incident has very sadly resulted in the death of a man, and we are carrying out an investigation.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have seen the motorcycle travelling south on the A34 prior to the collision.

“If you have any details, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101.”
