A Swindon man’s campaign of stalking caused a woman ‘serious distress’.

Michael McMeechan followed this victim, turned up at her parents’ house and presented her with gifts between 3 December 2022 and 13 March this year.

The 65-year-old, of Frobisher Drive, Walcot, pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious alarm or distress at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 19 December.

It’s said that his persistent harassment had an adverse effect on her usual day-to-day activities.

District Judge Joanna Dickens ordered a pre-sentence report and released the defendant on unconditional bail.

McMeechan will return to the same court for sentencing on 2 February 2024.
