Swindon man appears in court charged with sexual offences against young child

A man has appeared in court charged with numerous sexual offences against a young child.

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court yesterday (23 November), 29-year-old Matthew Vandross stood accused of raping a youngster on three occasions.

He’s also accused of assaulting the alleged victim by penetration on no fewer than 20 occasions and a further offence of sexual touching.

No pleas were entered and District Judge Joanna Dickens sent the case to Swindon Crown Court.

The defendant, of Booth House, Swindon, will appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 7 December.

He was released on bail with conditions not to contact five people and not to enter an area of Swindon outlined on a map. Vandross is also prohibited from having unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16.

The alleged victim in this case has the lifelong right to anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to the identification of the alleged victim.
