Swindon man accused of strangling girlfriend and threatening to kill her

A man has been charged with a number of violent offences against his former girlfriend.

21-year-old Jack Cole pleaded not guilty to all five alleged crimes when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (8 December).

He’s accused of non-fatal intentional strangulation and assault by beating on the woman in June.

It’s claimed that in July, he threatened to kill the same woman. He also faces another charge of assault by beating in August.

The court heard that the case is not suitable to be dealt with by magistrates due to the seriousness of the allegations. The case was sent to Swindon Crown Court.

The defendant, of Duchess Way, Swindon, was released on bail with conditions not to contact the alleged victim and or go to Hathaway Road.

He will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 6 January.
