Swindon gym defies government coronavirus advice and stays open

UPDATE: Police refused entry as they visit gym defying government request to close

A Swindon gym is defying the government’s request for gyms to close as they inform customers they are staying open with just a few restrictions in place.

24HR GYM in Peatmoor has today announced that it plans to continue to allow members access to its facility despite admitting that they are not exempt from the coronavirus policy.

A firm says only ‘five members will be allowed into each gym or locker room at any one time’ and ‘they must not be within two metres of one another’ at any point during their visit.

Members are now banned from using the front car park because the ‘spaces are too close together’, so only the rear car park is available for use, but they must leave one space either side of vehicles. If that’s not possible, members are told to ‘park further away from the gym and walk in’.

The gym’s front doors are closed, with the only access being via a back door.

Customers are also asked not to pass each other on the stairs, or ‘hang around’ the supplement shop.
