Swindon driver slapped with three-year driving ban after traffic stop

A driver was slapped with a three-year driving ban after a traffic stop in Swindon.

Due to concerns about his manner of driving, 25-year-old Tyler Hyde was pulled over by officers whilst driving a Vauxhall Astra along Kingshill Road on July 28 this year.

After failing a DrugWipe test at the roadside, he was arrested. However, in custody he did not provide a blood sample for testing and was charged with failing to provide a specimen.

Appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court on 16 August, Hyde pleaded guilty to the offence.

The defendant, of Redruth Close, Park North, was handed a three-year driving disqualification and ordered to pay a £400 fine. He must also pay £85 costs and a £160 surcharge.

PC Luke Hobbs, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Hyde’s manner of driving caused concern for officers who stopped his vehicle but his failure to provide a specimen has resulted in a three year driving disqualification.

“Road safety is always a priority but this month the force is further promoting the importance of the consequences of the fatal five offences following a rise in serious injury and fatal collisions.”
