Swindon man, 47, charged with assaulting woman and child to stand trial

A Swindon man will stand trial after denying that he assaulted a woman and child.

47-year-old Shane Brennan pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault by beating when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court.

The offences date back to April this year, when he’s alleged to have grabbed a woman and held her down.

The defendant, of Limes Avenue, Pinehurst, is also accused of pushing a child during the incident.

Mark Glendenning, defending, said his client accepts the contact with the woman but claims it was in self-defence. In relation to the child, he denies any assault.

A trial date was set for 23 March 2023 at the same court; Brennan was released on conditional bail.
