A Swindon car showroom is closed after firefighters battled a huge blaze.

Several fire crews and police were called to Swindon Audi, on Delta Business Park, at around 9.30pm yesterday evening (Friday, 1 December).

In a statement at the time, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service warned locals about the ongoing incident – which was producing smoke.

A spokesperson wrote: “We are currently dealing with a commercial property fire on the Delta Business Park in Swindon.

“Local resident are advised to avoid the area and keep windows closed due to the smoke plume.”

It’s understood the fire is believed to have started as a result of an electrical fault. The full extent of the damage is unknown at present.

Swindon Audi today (Saturday) confirmed that the showroom is closed.

A spokesperson said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances Swindon Audi is temporarily closed.

“Colleagues remain on hand to assist with your enquiries via telephone, email and through our website.

“If your vehicle is currently with us for service, you have a future appointment or you have purchased a vehicle, one of our team will be in touch to discuss this further with you.

“Please follow us on Social Media, or visit the dealership location page for updates. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
