Suspected thief crashes car into wall during police pursuit across Wiltshire

A man has been arrested following a pursuit in in West Wiltshire this morning (4 December).

Police received a report of a Toyota Hilux being stolen from an address in Great Cheverell, near Devizes, in the early hours of today.

Officers later located the vehicle travelling along the A361, where the driver failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued.

The chase ended with the vehicle hitting a garden wall on Bath Road, Beckington, near Frome. Luckily, no one was hurt in the crash.

A man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving a motor vehicle with a with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.

He was taken to Melksham Police Station, where he remains in custody.
