Suspected arsonist, 31, bailed as police continue ‘crack den’ fire investigation

A suspected arsonist arrested fleeing the scene of a fire at a flat in Chippenham earlier this week has been bailed by detectives as their investigation continues.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Charter Road at around 1.30pm on Tuesday following reports of the suspicious blaze at what neighbours say is a “known crack den”.

Specialist fire investigators returned to the property on Wednesday morning as police probe the incident which saw local residents evacuated for three hours.
