Suspect arrested after 50-mile pursuit from Swindon to Maidenhead

A suspect has been arrested after a pursuit from Swindon to Maidenhead overnight.

Wiltshire traffic cops chased a black Volkswagen Passat approximately 50 miles – enlisting assistance from Thames Valley Police as the vehicle left the county.

The chase, which is believed to have taken place in the early hours of today (Saturday), began at Junction 15 of the M4 in Swindon.

It ended at Junction 8 – the Holyport Interchange – when local roads policing officers deployed a stinger successfully.

The vehicle was then boxed in by both traffic cops and armed response officers.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and numerous other traffic-related offences.
