Sun’s out, bikes out: Two cyclists hospitalised in crashes within 400 metres of each other

Two cyclists were injured in in crashes within 400 metres of each other on Wednesday.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the two similar incidents in the Swindon area at around 3pm yesterday, where both casualties were taken to hospital.

The first incident, which happened 15 minutes before the second, happened outside B&M Bargains at Transfer Bridges. It involved a car and a female cyclist who suffered a head injury.

She was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.

The second incident occurred outside the Lidl supermarket on Chapel Street in Gorse Hill. A people carried and a male cyclist were involved in a collision. The cyclist suffered minor injuries but was also taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.
