Police and ambulance crews, including HART, at an industrial estate off Butts Road

Specialist paramedics have successfully rescued a suicidal woman from a wood near Swindon.

A Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) from South Western Ambulance Service were called to assist local ambulance crews at the incident in Chiseldon at around 9pm yesterday.

Police officers searching for the high-risk missing woman had found her – using a drone – in a difficult to access location within woodland between Butts Road and Hodson Road.

Initially, the responding 999 crews gathered in a small industrial estate off Butts Road but a short time later travelled – in convoy – to Hodson Road where they drove down a bridleway in order to effect the rescue operation at just before 10pm.

By 10.30pm, the woman was in the care of the ambulance service and receiving treatment.
