The Stonehenge circle has been closed to visitors over ‘dangerous’ winds.

The monument field has been closed over weather concerns this afternoon (Wednesday).

English Heritage said the decision was made to protect visitors and staff during high winds.

In a short statement, it said: “Due to the high winds today, the monument field at Stonehenge has been temporarily closed for the safety of visitors and staff.

“It will re-open when and if it is safe to do so. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
