Shoplifter pulls needle on security guards at Tesco Metro store in Swindon

A shoplifter pulled a needle on a security guard in Swindon town centre yesterday afternoon.

The police were called after a number of security staff attempted catch the man, who made off from the Tesco Metro store on The Parade. He was followed to the Jobcentre on Princes Street.

Officers arrived at 3pm, and the man was understood to be inside Spring Gardens car park, but following a search of the area, there was no sign of the needle-wielding suspect.

“We were called just after 3pm to a report of a suspected shop-lifter making his way through Spring Gardens’ car park”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented. Adding: “However, despite use carrying out a search of the car park he appears he had left the car park before we arrived.”

A Morrisons security guard had a needle pulled on them just last week, Wiltshire 999s’ source says.
