Shooting of man in Swindon cul-de-sac sparks major police investigation

The shooting of a man in a Swindon cul-de-sac has sparked a major police investigation.

Police descended on Sackville Close, Walcot, yesterday evening (Thursday 23 March) after the victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound at 9.15pm.

The man, aged in his 40s, sustained a significant arm injury – which is described as “potentially life-changing” by Wiltshire Police.

Forensic investigators attended the property in the early hours of this morning (Friday) to carry out an urgent examination of the scene.

The address of interest to police features a blue Audi and white Mercedes on the drive.

The road remains cordoned off this afternoon, with work continuing at the scene. A specialist search team and a dog unit are expected to comb the home.

Local residents reported hearing shouting and a loud bang – now known to be a gunshot – prior to police attending the location.

Wiltshire Police say no arrests have been made in connection with the firearms incident.
