Seven men and one woman charged after teenager stabbed in Swindon

Seven men and one woman have been charged after a teenager was stabbed in Swindon.

The serious disorder took place outside The Moonrakers public house on Whitworth Road at around 11.30pm on 13 June 2020 – during the first coronavirus lockdown.

A 17-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being knifed multiple times during a bout of violence.

Eight co-defendants equally face a charge of affray and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent – an offence that carries a sentence on conviction of up to life imprisonment:

  • Sarah Le Cornu, 28
  • Joel Lester, 29
  • Tyler Holmes, 19
  • Ryan Malloy, 18
  • Connor Livingstone, 26
  • Grand Townsend, 25
  • Thrishton Whyte, 22
  • Kyle Thomas, 21

Thomas has additionally been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, namely the Moonrakers Roundabout – close the where the disorder took place.

A crime scene was in place outside the Premier store in Clive Parade, opposite The Moonrakers for most of the following day (14 June 2020) as forensic work was undertaken at the scene.

All eight defendants are due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday 25 January).

Charges of grievous bodily harm with intent cannot be dealt with in a magistrates’ court, so the case is expected to be sent to Swindon Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing in February.
